What is dopamine? And how can I detox dopamine?

Dopamine is a neurotransmitter and hormone that acts as a chemical messenger in the brain and body, playing a key role in functions such as motivation, movement, memory, and mood. It is often called the "reward chemical" because it helps the brain process feelings of pleasure and reinforces behaviours that lead to satisfaction. 

In simple words:- It is a hormone that helps brain to process feeling of pleasure and satisfaction.

For example :-(Positive) 
  • The feeling when you eat your favourite meal.
  • The sense of accomplishment after completing a task.
  • The day when you get your monthly payment which we called salary.

But the dopamine can be negative too!

For example :-(Negative)
  • Drug: Use of drug can trigger you dopamine very easily because the pleasure after taking this  can make you used to it.
  • Gambling: the excitement for money in gambling can lead to dopamine rush.
  • Social media:- Not always but often social media can be the reason of triggered dopamine.

When you feed your mind with entertaining content your mind will easily get trigger and want to feel that pleasure again and it may lead you to mindless scrolling which we are doing today and thinking this is normal.

How can I detox dopamine?

If your mind easily release dopamine while doing negative things which I mentioned earlier then you have to think twice of you are doing things right or wrong.
